Prime Minister Eduard Heger went from zero politics to PM in 6 years.
He was “the least prepared” PM of Slovakia – and the only one to lead his country successfully through multiple crises:
🔥 Covid
🔥 Double-digit inflation
🔥 Coalition crisis
🔥 Energy crisis
🔥 War
This weekend I had the huge honour of teaching at a Leadership Formation weekend in Geneva alongside Fadzi Whande of UNHCR and former Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger.
Just a few lessons shared from his personal experience:
➡️ Plans go out the window but planning is essential
➡️ Leadership means going through the door to the unknown first
➡️ How Leaders deal with betrayal (don’t take it personally)
Servant Leadership
In a recent talk I gave on AI for the AI+X Summit, I explained that Prime Minister means “First Servant”.
After listening to and observing Mr. Heger for two days, I can say that in his case, the title is accurate. 🙏🏼
Thank you, Eduard, for teaching us – and modeling – servant leadership!
Leaders are readers, because they must be informed.
Today’s leaders increasingly understand the need to be Storytellers – to create the Narrative.
